Golden Hour by Design
One shoot. Four films. Six platforms.
A 1962 mid-century modern home and a single evening. We used light as the thread, and took the project from planning and filming to post-production and release.
- 4films: a hero and three verticals
- 6platforms, each with its own cover and copy
- 19pages of plan to browse or download
One hero film. Three verticals, each with a job.
Four films cut from the same evening: the hero film tells the whole story, and the three verticals carry mood, a point of view and an invitation to partner.

A 1962 landmark, and an evening about light.
B&M Blinds Pro joined the designers' evening as a partner brand and asked us to capture the event and produce all of its brand content in one shoot.
- Brand imageUse a landmark house to show the brand's eye for space and light. Less product, more space.
- Point of viewMake the case that good window treatments belong to the architecture: a balance of light, privacy and comfort.
- PartnershipsRecord the evening and the remarks, and invite real estate agents and interior designers to work together.
Light as the thread.
The theme was twilight. The soul of the house is its walls of glass. And window treatment, at heart, is the design of light. So the film follows the light: from outside to inside, from afternoon into night.
- Afternoon · 5:07 pmThe house on the hill: lines, timber and red brick
- Golden hour · 6:15 pmThe light: sun moving across the materials
- Dusk · 6:30 pmThe evening: the warmth of people and the event
- Night · 7:14 pmLights on: the whole house becomes a lantern
Five chapters that follow the light of one day.
Sunset was at 6:19 pm, leaving about an hour of the best light. We planned the shoot backwards from it and saved that hour for the shots that couldn't be retaken: the welcome, the remarks, the interiors and the aerials. On the day we filmed from 5:06 to 7:15 pm and came back with 146 clips.
- Prologue · 25 sA welcome at the door; the title lands over an aerial
- I · 33 sThe architect and the history: timber, brick and glass
- II · 49 sLetting light in, and living comfortably with it
- III · 79 sGuests, the homeowner and the remarks at sunset
- IV · 17 sNightfall closes the film
Three layers of sound. One warm, golden grade.
On-camera audio, narration and ambience were cleaned separately, then matched in tone and loudness. The score was written for this film and steps back whenever someone speaks. Two kinds of log footage were normalized first, then graded by phase of light.
- −14 LUFSIntegrated loudness (measured)
- ≈10 dBMusic ducking under voice
- ≤1 dBLoudness spread across narration (measured)
- 4 groupsClear afternoon · warm gold · rosy dusk · deep night
Platform by platform, on a schedule.
Each of the six public platforms got its own cover and copy. The films went out four times over one week: the full story first, then the point of view, then the partnership invitation, shared privately as well.
